Bournemouth have made a £10million bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Benik Afobe, according to Sky sources.

Cherries manager Eddie Howe is keen to bolster his forward options with Callum Wilson expected to miss the majority of the season due to a cruciate knee ligament injury suffered last September.

Roma forward Juan Iturbe has already agreed to join the club on loan until the end of the season, subject to international clearance, and he could be joined at the Vitality Stadium by Afobe.

If Bournemouth are successful in their bid to sign Afobe, it will eclipse the club record £8m paid out to sign Tyrone Mings from Ipswich last summer.

The 22-year-old only joined Wolves from Arsenal last January following a successful loan spell with Milton Keynes Dons and scored 13 goals in 21 appearances, bringing his total for both clubs for the season to 32.

His form attracted interest from Norwich City in the summer, but their "substantial offer" for Afobe was rejected by Wolves.

Afobe has since continued his fine goalscoring form this season and has netted 10 times so far, taking his total to 23 goals in 48 games since his move to Molineux.
