Bournemouth have accepted a £3m offer from Aston Villa for club captain Tommy Elphick.

Central-defender Elphick, who has been with the Cherries since 2012 and has experienced promotion from League One and the Championship, is currently on his honeymoon in Italy, but his agent has been holding talks with Villa.

Should Elphick join Villa, it will be the first signing of new manager Roberto Di Matteo's tenure after he was officially unveiled as the club's new manager on Wednesday.

Other Championship clubs are also interested in the 28-year-old, but Villa look to be heading the race for his signature at the moment, although personal terms still have to be agreed.
