Marc Wilson is having a medical at Bournemouth on Monday ahead of a move from Stoke City, Sky sources understand.

It is believed the 28-year-old defender has agreed terms on two-year deal at the Vitality Stadium, after the clubs agreed a £2m fee over the weekend.

Cherries manager Eddie Howe confirmed after the 3-1 home defeat to Manchester United that his club had had a bid accepted by the Potters and expected the deal to be a formality.

He told Sky Sports: "We have agreed a fee and are waiting for the formalities to be completed."

Should the deal go through, Wilson, who had two years remaining on his contract with Stoke, will return to a club at which he spent two separate periods on loan in 2007.

Wilson recently appeared to hit out at Potters boss Mark Hughes over his lack of game time during a clash with supporters on Twitter, after which Hughes said the player had expressed frustration in the wrong way.

"It's fair to say that Marc feels his future lies elsewhere and it's fair to say I probably agree with him," Hughes said last week.

"Sometimes players can be frustrated with a perceived lack of opportunity and that's the case with Marc. He maybe expressed himself in the wrong way."

Wilson signed for Stoke from Portsmouth in 2010 and has made over 150 appearances for the Potteries club, but only one of those came in the Premier League last season.
