Defender Charlie Daniels has signed a new three-year contract at Bournemouth, keeping him at the Vitality Stadium until the summer of 2020.

The 31-year-old has been a regular with Bournemouth since joining from Leyton Orient, initially on loan, in 2011 making 205 appearances for the club and scoring 16 goals.

During his spell with the south coast club, the Tottenham academy graduate has played a key role in the clubs meteoric rise from the lower leagues to establishing themselves as Premier League regulars.

"It's all happened quite quickly but I'm really happy that the club have given me the opportunity to stay here for another three years," said Daniels.

"I've been at the club for six years now, so staying here was a simple decision. I couldn't wait to sign the new contract and can't wait to see what the next few years has to hold.

"This is a great club and it's a brilliant time to be a part of it."

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake added: "Charlie has proved himself at every level since arriving here and has made each step up in division look simple.

"As well as signing new players during the summer, it was important to keep hold of those we already had, and I'm delighted that Charlie has agreed to remain here for the next three."

Daniels becomes the second player to sign a new Bournemouth contract this week, after Tyrone Mings signed a long-term deal with the club on Wednesday, and they will be hoping their side can earn their first points of the season when they travel to the Emirates to play Arsenal on Saturday.
