Middlesbrough have accepted a £3.5 million offer from Bournemouth for Lee Tomlin, according to Sky sources.

The Premier League new boys are believed to have agreed to pay an initial fee of £3m with add-on clauses.

The midfielder is expected to travel to the South Coast for a medical on Wednesday.

Tomlin, who was signed by Boro for £1.5 million in January 2014, has barely featured in boss Aitor Karanka’s plans in pre-season.

The 26-year-old played 14 times for Boro in his first season and scored four times.

Last season he made 28 appearances in a play-maker role but was moved out to the left.
