Chesterfield sign striker Ched Evans

Chesterfield have signed striker Ched Evans on a one-year contract.
The 27-year-old free agent will officially become a Spireite on July 1. He last played for Sheffield United, where he played under current Chesterfield boss Danny Wilson, during the 2011-12 season.
Evans will go on trial in October accused of rape. He pleaded not guilty to the charge at a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court in May.
The player, whose deal has the option for a further year, said: "I am very excited and privileged to be resuming my career at Chesterfield.
"I hope to make a valuable contribution both on and off the pitch for the football club, the fans and the community."
Chesterfield chairman Dave Allen said: "We are delighted to have secured the services of an outstanding footballer, who is now keen to get back to work and score goals.
"Danny knows Ched very well, having previously managed him at Sheffield United. Chris Morgan, our first team coach, also speaks highly of him from their time together at Bramall Lane.
"Chesterfield Football Club have given a great deal of thought to this signing and we are in no doubt that Ched Evans should be welcomed back into his profession as a professional footballer."
The forward came through the ranks at Manchester City and spent time on loan at Norwich City before Sheffield United signed him for £3m in 2009. He scored 48 goals in 113 appearances during a three-year spell with Blades.
The striker has also won 22 Wales caps, making his debut for them in May 2008 and scoring the winner in a 1-0 friendly win over Iceland.
