Rotherham boss Neil Redfearn is searching for reinforcements to his squad and Hibernian striker Jason Cummings is on his radar.

Redfearn, who has been at the Millers helm for three games, is desperate to turn around the fortunes of his new club and says they need help by the way of fresh faces.

The striking department is one that needs critical attention and Cummings, who is having another fine season north of the border, is someone Redfearn likes.

However, former Newcastle and Blackburn striker Leon Best will not be joining the Millers.

"He is someone who is doing really, really well," the former Leeds boss said of Cummings. "I wouldn't deny that I have got interest in someone like that but we have got interest in a lot of players.

"We are looking at a lot of players, I'm not going to say anyone will be here the next day.

"Leon Best got mentioned to us. I think he had something else going off, he is a player who has been about, but I can't comment too much on that, interest wise, but he is someone who got mentioned to us."

Asked whether Best had been training with the Millers, Redfearn said: "No, I think he had prior things."

Redfearn has been tireless in his attempts to strengthen his squad before a tricky-looking trip to Derby on Saturday but admits he might struggle to get any new arrivals over the line in time for the journey down the M1.

"We have got to bring some lads in to help the ones that are here, but the ones that come in have got to be better quality, there's no point bringing in players that are only as good, you may as well persevere with the ones you have got," he said.

"It might be tight (for the weekend), but we are on with it, we are talking to quite a few people.

"We know the areas where we want to strengthen and we know the players we want to bring in but obviously with them being good players other people want them. It's whether we can get these over the line.

"We are at that point where we can't make the clubs move any quicker because they are looking whether they are going to keep them. We will try and get it done sooner rather than later."
