Stevenage have confirmed midfielder Steven Schumacher has torn his anterior cruciate ligament and he will be out of action for up to nine months.

Schumacher scored in Boro's 2-1 win at Bristol Rovers in midweek before suffering the injury which will likely end his season.

After that game, boss Teddy Sheringham said: "It isn't looking good and it is a real blow for us.

"Steven has taken time to get going because he missed a lot of pre-season, but the last six weeks he has shown his stature on the pitch and he was very good again in this game."
