Runaway leaders Northampton set a new club record of nine successive league wins by beating Wycombe 1-0 at Sixfields in League 2 on Saturday.
They reached the landmark courtesy of Danny Rose's first goal for the club - a rising shot into the roof of the net from Lee Martin's lay-off on 63 minutes.
The result saw Wycombe drop out of the play-off places while the victory, combined with Plymouth Argyle's 1-1 draw at Crawley, saw Northampton extend their lead at the top of the table to 10 points.
Second-placed Argyle fell further adrift of the Cobblers after Ryan Brunt's opening goal was cancelled out late on by Shamir Fenelon's strike.
Also in the promotion race, fourth-placed Accrington won 2-1 at third-placed Oxford United with an 88th-minute winner despite being sent down to 10 men with six minutes to go.
Chris Maguire put the hosts in front before Billy Kee headed in the equaliser, but Tom Davies was sent off six minutes from time. Scott Brown fired in the winner nevertheless to move his team to within three points of their opponents with two games in hand.
Bristol Rovers, this week taken over by the Jordanian Al-Qadi family, climbed into the play-off positions with a 2-1 home victory over Morecambe, thanks to Rory Gaffney and substitute Billy Bodin's goals.
Mansfield and Portsmouth occupy the other two top-seven spots and the former beat 10-man Dagenham in a 3-2 thriller through goals from Matty Blair, Adi Yussuf and Matt Green.
Portsmouth, meanwhile, drew 1-1 at Yeovil thanks to Gary Roberts' equaliser, despite having Christian Burgess dismissed themselves.
Francois Zoko put the Glovers ahead but Roberts levelled for Pompey after they had Christian Burgess dismissed.
Yeovil are now just a point behind York after the Minstermen lost 3-1 at Cambridge United, with Jimmy Spencer, Josh Coulson and Ben Williamson netting for the Us.
Hartlepool also remain in trouble after losing 2-1 at Luton; Adam Jackson cancelling out Cameron McGeehan's penalty before Craig Mackail-Smith scored the winner four minutes from time.
Leyton Orient's rejuvenation under Kevin Nolan continued with a 1-0 win at Notts County thanks to Shaun Brisley's 76th-minute goal, while there was also a 1-0 win for Carlisle over Stevenage at Brunton Park thanks to Jabo Ibehre.
AFC Wimbledon edged the London derby with Barnet 2-1, with Lyle Taylor and Adebayo Azeez netting for the Dons and ensuring Matt Stevens' late goal was a mere consolation.
In the early kick-off, Exeter and Newport drew 1-1 after Scott Boden's late header cancelled out Jordan Tillson's 51st-minute opener.
