Highly-rated teenager Ryan Sweeney has committed himself to AFC Wimbledon "for the foreseeable future".

The 18-year-old has reportedly been interesting the likes of Tottenham and West Ham but has signed a new deal with the Sky Bet League Two side.

Sweeney came into the team last month following an injury to Karleigh Osborne and has seized his chance fully, making nine appearances so far.

Manager Neal Ardley told Dons Player: "Ryan has put pen to paper today on an extension to his contract that will keep him here for the foreseeable future.

"It's great news and we want our young, talented players to be at the club for a long time. He certainly comes under the bracket of being a first-team player now."

Sweeney has been at Wimbledon since the age of eight and is a Republic of Ireland Under-18 international.
