Blackpool's Jamille Matt somehow hit the post from six yards out

Blackpool's Jamille Matt missed an absolute sitter from six yards to extend his side's lead in their game against Stevenage.

Stevenage's nine-game unbeaten run was ended as Blackpool moved to within three points of the Sky Bet League Two play-off places with a 1-0 win at Bloomfield Road.

The Seasiders took the lead after 15 minutes from the penalty spot. Jordan Flores' floating cross was adjudged to have been handled by Stevenage skipper Jack King, and Mark Cullen stepped up to convert.

Blackpool should have extended the lead ten minutes from time, but Matt hit the post with a sitter from six yards after Ian Black's strike was parried by Chris Day.

That late miss came after Stevenage should have levelled in the 39th minute but Dean Lyness produced a great save with his feet to deny King from six yards before the defender then blasted over from the rebound.
