Morecambe's 38-year-old striker Kevin Ellison belied his age by scoring this superb volley against Exeter in Sky Bet League Two.

Morecambe's 38-year-old forward Kevin Ellison scored a goal of the season contender against Exeter on Saturday.

Ellison, who is at his 13th club, showed he still has a killer instinct in front of goal by smashing in a volley from the edge of the box into the top-right corner.

Such was Ellison's delight with his 25-yard strike that he took his shirt off and did a celebration similar to Mario Balotelli's for Italy against Germany in Euro 2012. The goal was Ellison's eighth of the season in all competitions.

Unfortunately, that was to be Morecambe's only goal of the match as the Shrimps lost 3-1 to Exeter.

Chances were few and far between in a rather turgid first half with Exeter missing the best of those.

However, the Grecians stepped it up a gear after half-time and took the lead on 47 minutes when Ryan Harley's corner fell to David Wheeler and his scuffed shot somehow squeezed under Daniel Nizic and rolled over the line.

Joel Grant then missed a glorious chance when he blazed horribly wide on 62 minutes.

And after Ellison pulled one back, Exeter won it in stoppage time when substitute Reuben Reid was fouled in the penalty box by Michael Rose. He picked himself off the floor to smash the spot-kick into the bottom corner.
