Reuben Reid scored twice as Exeter moved three points clear at the top of Sky Bet League Two with a comfortable 3-1 win at Forest Green.
Pierce Sweeney's close-range finish gave the Grecians an early lead and Reid doubled their advantage in the 18th minute, tapping in after a strong run and shot from Lee Holmes.
Reid scored his sixth goal of the season eight minutes into the second half with a composed finish into the corner, with Shamir Mullings pulling one back for the home side with 15 minutes remaining.
Sean McConville scored twice as Accrington moved up to second with a 3-0 win over Carlisle. Notts County are third following a routine 2-0 win at home to Morecambe. Dan Jones' superb curling free-kick put the Magpies in front after 27 minutes and Jonathan Forte secured the points with a second five minutes from time.
Stevenage, who had started the day second, were beaten 2-1 at home by Lincoln. Chris Porter scored twice as Crewe cruised to a 5-1 win against struggling Chesterfield.
Earlier in the day, pre-season promotion favourites Mansfield thumped Grimsby 4-1. Lee Angol and Krystian Pearce both scored twice, with the former's goals both coming from the penalty spot.
Elsewhere, Sammi Szmodics scored one and set up another as Colchester eased to a 3-1 win against Crawley while Jodi Jones' superb curling effort was enough for Coventry to see off Port Vale, despite Rod McDonald's late dismissal.
Luton were made to pay for Scott Cuthbert's first-half red card as goals from Luke Norris, Chris Hussey and Paul Mullin earned Swindon a 3-0 win, and Mauro Vilhete's double helped Barnet to a 3-1 win against Cambridge.
The games between Newport and Wycombe and Yeovil and Cheltenham ended goalless.
