Hartlepool have signed forward Padraig Amond after he rejected an offer to stay with Grimsby.
The 28-year-old Irishman had been offered a new contract with Grimsby after netting 35 goals in all competitions for the Mariners last season as they won promotion back to the Football League.
However, the former Shamrock Rovers, Pacos de Ferreira and Morecambe man has turned down the chance to remain at Blundell Park and has now been snapped up by League Two rivals Hartlepool.
Pools boss Craig Hignett told hartlepoolunited.co.uk: "For us to attract someone like him, who scored over 30 goals in the league below, is a coup for the club.
"We have had him watched a lot so we know what he can do, what he's capable of and what he can bring to the side. He's hungry, he's ambitious and he's also the right kind of character.
"There were a lot of clubs in for him - as you would think there would be - but we're delighted that we've managed to tempt him to The Vic."
