Grimsby Town have confirmed the appointment of Michael Jolley as the club's new first-team manager.

Jolley, 40, has joined the League Two side on an undisclosed rolling contract.

The Englishman spent three years as Burnley's U23 coach between 2014-2017, helping the club upgrade their academy to Category 2 status.

A personal recommendation from manager Sean Dyche helped him land his first managerial role at Swedish minnows AFC Eskiltuna in 2017, where he suffered relegation from the top flight despite notable wins over IFK Goteborg and Malmo.

A statement from Grimbsy Town's board read: "We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Michael Jolley to the role of First Team Manager on an undisclosed rolling contract.

"Following a robust selection process, we quickly identified the need to move away from the classic "managerial merry go round" appointment and bring in an exciting, hungry coach who wanted to stamp their mark and build a project at our Football Club going forward."

Jolley posted a message to Grimsby fans on Twitter informing them he will be disabling his social media account to avoid being distracted from his new role.
