Hearts came from 2-1 down with a minute left to snatch a remarkable 3-2 League Cup victory at Kilmarnock while their Edinburgh neighbours Hibernian consigned Aberdeen's 100 per cent domestic record to the history books with a 2-0 win at Easter Road.

At Rugby Park, Juanma Delgado headed an equaliser with the clock hitting 89 minutes before Sam Nicholson fired a winner from eight yards deep inside injury-time.

Josh Magennis looked to have sent Killie through with a double either side of Alim Ozturk's strike but there was a late sting in the tail to sicken Killie boss Gary Locke and the rest of the former Hearts contingent in Ayrshire.

Emergency loan signing Mark Ridgers also tasted defeat against his former club after signing on Tuesday with another former Hearts goalkeeper, Jamie MacDonald, injured and Conor Brennan cup-tied.

At Easter Road, late strikes from Jason Cummings and Dominique Malonga ensured that Hibernian will join fellow Championship outfit Morton in the hat for Monday's quarter-final draw.

There had been little between the sides in a well-contested clash until Cummings hit the target with a half-volley in the 82nd minute.

The striker was then replaced by Malonga and the Congo international notched a stunning solo effort six minutes later.

Dons manager Derek McInnes was also left counting the cost of injuries to Graeme Shinnie and Willo Flood after the pair hobbled off in the first half.
