Scottish Championship: Hibernian extend run of good form

Hibernian still remain eight points behind Rangers in the Scottish Championship despite their 2-1 win over Raith Rovers.

Hibernian stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions to 10 games with a 2-1 victory away to Raith in the Scottish Championship on Saturday.

The visitors scored after just four minutes when Dominique Malonga teed up John McGinn at the edge of the box to fire home.

Jason Cummings (26) doubled the lead when he lofted the ball over advancing Raith 'keeper Kevin Cuthbert from a Mark Oxley clearance.

Former Dundee United striker Jon Daly pulled a goal back for Raith when he headed home from a Jason Thomson cross.

But Hibs held firm and move five points behind Championship leaders Rangers who are in action against St Mirren on Sunday.

John Baird scored a hat-trick as Falkirk returned to top form with a 5-0 victory at Dumbarton.

Baird scored in the opening minutes when he rounded the Dumbarton 'keeper after latching on to a flick from Lee Miller.

He scored an almost identical goal on 22 minutes and completed his treble just after the break, this time with a powerful shot after again getting in behind the Dumbarton defence.

Falkirk had led 3-0 at the break thanks to a low drive from Bob McHugh, and they completed the rout when Baird linked with Craig Sibbald to set up Blair Alston.

Livingston also found their goal touch as they won 4-1 against Queen of the South at Palmerston Park.

Dale Hilston put the home side in from with a close-range finish before Livingston responded with a Scott Pittman strike.

The bottom club then took the lead when Jordan White started and finished the move, after combining with Gary Glen.

Liam Buchanan added two move goals for Livingston as they recovered from the Petrofac Training Cup defeat against Rangers in midweek in some style.

In the other match in the Championship, Morton won 1-0 at home to Alloa with a second half free-kick from Ross Forbes.
