Celtic boss Ronny Deila has told Sky Sports News HQ he will take action over Anthony Stokes' social media outburst on Sunday.

Stokes risked incurring the wrath of the club hierarchy by airing his disappointment on Twitter after being left out of the matchday squad for the lunchtime kick-off at Inverness.

But Deila stood firm on his decision to leave Stokes out of the team, saying: "I pick the team and the squad and we are always 20 players leaving to different places. We are a team and that is important.

Celtic restored their seven-point lead at the top of the Premiership with a 3-1 win at Inverness

"Ninety-nine other times it has been other players out and it is his time this day and, of course, they are not the values that we want. If that is harder for him than somebody else, then for me he is not a team player.

"What is important with Stokesy is that he has to show the work first before he speaks and if you do that then you always have a future."

Asked if he will have a word with Stokes, Deila said: "Of course."

Ronny Deila admits his Celtic side didn't play very well despite the 3-1 win.

The Irish forward had written on social media: "Buzzing to be brought all the way up to Inverness with the team to sit in the stands today. Lovely weather for it too."

He then went on to add: "It's all about playing and contributing not picking up a wage."

The Republic of Ireland international, who has been linked with a move away from Celtic, has made only two appearances this season, the last of which came in a 3-1 win at Dundee United in August.

After the game, which Celtic won 3-1, the 27-year-old was in a more contrite mood, tweeting: "Sorry for earlier Tweet. Hope fans can appreciate my frustration, heat of the moment."
