Dominique Malonga scored an injury time winner as Hibernian left it late to beat Queen of the South at Easter Road, and move level on points with Scottish Championship leaders Rangers.

The game appeared to be heading towards a goalless draw until Malonga stooped to head home from close range in the 94th minute and give the hosts a deserved 1-0 victory.

For the first 93 minutes Hibs had been frustrated, despite creating three times as many chances as the Doonhammers.

They could have taken the lead inside 70 seconds through Liam Fontaine, whose six-yard header flew wide of the left-hand post.

Fontaine missed with another header 13 minutes from time but Malonga saved the day for the Edinburgh club, who have scored 15 fewer goals than Rangers.

Earlier in the day, pacesetters Rangers suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Falkirk where the visitors missed an injury time penalty.

The Bairns went ahead with their own penalty in the third minute when John Baird netted from the spot after Danny Wilson had fouled Will Vaulks.

Rangers were level on 15 from Barrie McKay's drive and that was the way it remained until Vaulks restored Falkirk's lead nine minutes after the break as the visitors paid the price for failing to clear a corner.

As Rangers chased an equaliser Nicky Law hit the bar and, with 91 minutes on the clock, Blair Alston handled the ball in the area only for Martyn Waghorn's penalty to be tipped against a post and to safety by keeper Danny Rogers.

Bottom of the table Alloa were beaten again, losing 2-0 at home to St Mirren.

The Wasps, who have collected just a single point at their Indodrill Stadium all season, fell behind in the 13th minute when Lawrence Shankland latched on to Paul McMullan's assist to net with a low strike.

And Shankland turned provider just before the hour mark when Calum Gallagher made it 2-0 from the centre of the box.

And it was all square in West Lothian where Livingston drew 1-1 with Dumbarton.

The struggling hosts opened the scoring on 14 when Scott Pittman located the bottom left-hand corner of the net from inside the box.

And they appeared to be heading towards what would have been only their second home victory of the season, until Steven Saunders levelled matters in the 89th minute at the Almondvale Stadium.

Saunders fired home from six yards following a corner, although there was still time for Gary Glen to fashion an even later chance for the Lions, only for his shot to be saved by visiting keeper Mark Brown.
