Celtic's Premiership match at Dundee on Wednesday evening has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch, but Motherwell's fixture with St Johnstone will go ahead.

The Taysiders called an inspection for 1.15pm as Storm Frank swept across the Central Belt and the Dens Park surface was swiftly deemed to be unplayable.

Elsewhere, the Motherwell versus St Johnstone match will go ahead after a late pitch inspection.

The game had been thrown into doubt with heavy rain falling in North Lanarkshire on Wednesday afternoon but a post on Motherwell's Twitter feed said the Fir Park pitch had been cleared by referee Crawford Allan.

It said: "Referee has passed the pitch. We're good to go!"

Second-placed Aberdeen - currently a point behind Celtic having played a game more - can go top of the standings with a victory over Partick Thistle at Pittodrie.

That game and Hearts versus Dundee United at Tynecastle both remain on.

The Dons confirmed on their official Twitter account that they had no plans to inspect their pitch ahead of the match.

They tweeted: "Tonight's game against Partick Thistle remains ON and at present there are no plans for a pitch inspection."

Hearts also tweeted: "Tonight's game will go ahead as scheduled. See you all at a sold out Tynie this evening!"
