Inverness Caledonian Thistle have received an application for the vacant manager's job from a seven-year-old supporter.

The Scottish Premiership side are in the market for a new boss after John Hughes left the club last week 12 months after leading them to the Scottish Cup - the first major trophy in their 22-year history.

The application to replace him, from an Inverness fan named Ewen, is likely to be seen as something of a long shot, but the youngster presents a solid argument.

"I can help the players develop new skills as I have attended several hot shot courses and now play on my school football team," he writes.

"I'd like to think that I get on well with the boys too."

Ewen has also given some consideration to the jobs which will require immediate attention from the new man, saying: "In order to complete my dream team, I'd like to make Richie Foran my assistant manager and Greg Tansey as team captain."

He has also contemplated combining the Inverness manager's job with being at school full-time and feels he could reach a compromise.

"I can speak to my headmaster and see if he would be up for letting me leave school early for important matches and training," he writes.

"I'm sure it won't be a problem as long as the players chip in and help me with my homework!"
