The weekend saw confirmation of November's Scottish League Cup final as Aberdeen and Celtic progressed to Hampden for the season's first chance to win major silverware.

There were also three Premiership games as Dundee found themselves unable to move from the bottom of the table, while St Johnstone moved into fourth spot.

With a full card of fixtures this mid-week, there's a chance for Rangers to get over their semi-final defeat as Motherwell, Hearts and Hamilton Accies all return to action after having the weekend off.

Andy Walker and Ian Crocker take you through their predictions and the players to look out for this midweek.

Hamilton Accies v Aberdeen - Tuesday 7.45pm

Hamilton have failed to score in seven of their last ten Premiership meetings with Aberdeen and have only won once in that time.

The visitors have the most clean sheets in the league this season with four and have won their last six matches in all competitions.

Andy Walker's prediction:
Hamilton Accies 1-2 Aberdeen

Key player: Kenny McLean
The midfielder takes pressure off strikers with vital goals, such as the clincher at Hampden against Morton at the weekend.

Ian Crocker's prediction:

Key player: James Maddison

Dundee v Partick Thistle - Wednesday 7.45pm

Dundee are unbeaten in their last 14 meetings between the sides, and have managed ten wins within those games.

Dundee have lost five in a row in the Premiership, sitting bottom of the table, and Partick Thistle haven't won since the opening day of the league season.

Andy Walker's prediction:
Dundee 2-1 Partick Thistle

Key player: Yordi Teijsse
Dutch striker has to be more clinical in front of goal to relieve pressure on the team.

Ian Crocker's prediction:

Kilmarnock v Hearts - Wednesday 7.45pm

Hearts are unbeaten in four in the Premiership against Kilmarnock but the Rugby Park side have only lost one of their last eight home games against the Edinburgh side.

Kilmarnock have conceded the most goals in the league so far with 20 in their ten games while Hearts have conceded just five goals in their last eight league matches.

Andy Walker's prediction:
Kilmarnock 0-3 Hearts

Key player: Bjorn Johnsen
Should add to Hearts firepower now that he got his first goal for the club against Dundee.

Ian Crocker's prediction:
Kilmarnock 1-2 Hearts

Key player: Conor Sammon
Maybe a return to Rugby Park will spark a goal.

Motherwell v Inverness CT - Wednesday 7.45pm

There hasn't been a league draw in this fixture in any of the last 18 meetings between these two sides. Motherwell have won 11 and Inverness have won 7.

Andy Walker's prediction:
Motherwell 1-1 Inverness CT

Key player: Scott McDonald
Experience is vital for Motherwell. Scott has it in abundance.

Rangers v St Johnstone - Wednesday 7.45pm

The last time St Johnstone won at Ibrox, Rangers winger Michael O'Halloran was on the scoresheet for the away side as Tommy Wright's men progressed in the League Cup just over a year ago.

Danny Swanson may be the key to provide the goals this time with the four assists, the most in the league so far this season, but Rangers have kept clean sheets in three of their four Premiership games since the 5-1 defeat to Celtic.

Andy Walker's prediction
Rangers 2-1 St Johnstone

Key player: Lee Hodson
Big positive from the painful Celtic defeat: Manager Mark Warburton knows he can trust him to cope with the pressure.

Key player: Martyn Waghorn

Ross County v Celtic - Wednesday 7.45pm

Ross County's only Premiership victory over Celtic was in a 3-2 win March 2013 and Celtic have won seven and drawn four of the meetings since that date.

County's Scott Fox has made the most saves of any 'keeper in the league this season while Celtic are way ahead in terms of goals scored. Brendan Rodgers' side have managed nine more goals than any other team, with 26 so far.

Andy Walker's prediction:
Ross County 1-3 Celtic

Key player: Leigh Griffiths
Despite losing his place to Moussa Dembele, Griffiths has shown a great attitude to be ready when the time comes to play again regularly.

Ian Crocker's prediction:
Ross County 1-3 Celtic

Key player: Leigh Griffiths
Griffiths proved at Hampden that he and Dembele can do business together.
