Celtic youngster Michael Johnston signed a new three-year deal with the club moments after making his debut in Hoops' 4-1 win over St Johnstone at Parkhead on Saturday.
The 18-year-old attacker, who has been part of Celtic's youth academy since the age of nine, put pen to paper after impressing during his first competitive appearance for the club, providing an assist for the opening goal as his side went on to make it 43 domestic matches unbeaten this season.
Three goals in five minutes saw Celtic's Patrick Roberts open the scoring early into the second half before Steven MacLean equalised for the visitors two minutes later, only for the Hoops to reinstate their lead in the 52nd minute through Dedryck Boyata.
A third followed for the hosts when Roberts netted his second of the day shortly after the hour mark before Callum McGregor made it four for the league winners.
Johnston featured for 57 minutes before being replaced by the league's top-scorer and club Player of the Year Scott Sinclair and boss Brendan Rodgers praised Johnston, along with the team's other teenage debutant Anthony Ralston, for their performances in the win.
Johnston has earned rave reviews for his displays with the Scottish club's academy this season and has recently been linked with Premier League leaders Chelsea.
Speaking after his first senior appearance, he told Celtic's official website: "It's been a really special day and I'm absolutely delighted.
"I have played for this club for about 10 years and I have supported them my full life so to make my debut and then sign the contract today and commit my future here is unbelievable."
Johnston, who already has four Scotland U19 caps to his name, said he signed the contract just moments after Saturday's game ended.
"It was literally straight after the final whistle. Once I got changed, I went straight in and got the deal signed. I knew it was happening and it all came on the right day," he said.
"I have committed my future here for a reason. This is where I want to be and hopefully, I can get many more appearances under my belt."
Johnston admitted he set himself the aim of a first senior start and is thrilled with the timing of securing a new deal at the club.
"Making my debut was one of my goals this season and to do that was a delight and to sign the contract just topped it off," he added.
"All my family were there when I signed. They were all delighted for me and they were a bit emotional when I was playing as well. All of them were really happy for me."
