Police make eight arrests at Scottish Cup final between Celtic and Aberdeen

Scottish Police have confirmed there were eight arrests at Saturday's Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park.

All of the arrests, which took place around a game in which Celtic completed a domestic treble by beating Aberdeen 2-1, were for minor public disorder offences.

Match Commander Superintendent Mark Hargreaves thanked fans for arriving early for the game and said: "We had enhanced security arrangements in place today and I'd like to thank fans for complying with the instructions of police and stewards today and for their behaviour throughout the match."

A total of 50 arrests were made relating to least season's Scottish Cup final between Rangers and Hibernian and an inquiry team was set up by the Govan Police Office in Glasgow to investigate the incidents.

Officers reviewed CCTV footage and other video and photographic images to identify those individuals involved in the disorder and other criminal behaviour on the pitch.
