England join tug-of-love for Celtic wonderkid Karamoko Dembele

Sky sources understand Celtic's 13-year-old schoolboy sensation Karamoko Dembele has trained with England in recent weeks.

Dembele was born in London and is eligible to represent England, Scotland and the Ivory Coast.

He was invited by the English FA to train with the U16 squad at St George's Park before he played his first game for Scotland at that level.

He made his Scotland debut in their U16s' 2-2 Victory Shield draw with Wales in Edinburgh on November 1. 

The FA were keen to keep the invite under wraps because of Dembele's age.

The Scottish FA have said they will do everything in their power to ensure the player commits his future to Scotland.

Speaking last month, SFA chief executive Stewart Regan said: "We will try to do everything we can to bring him into the Scottish system.

"If you have talented players who are eligible for other countries, they are always going to be attractive to other associations. Ultimately the choice will come down to the boy and his parents."
