Left-back Emilio Izaguirre has announced that he is to leave Celtic after a hugely successful seven-year stint.

The fan favourite and Honduras international has agreed a two-year deal with the Saudi Arabian side Al-Fayha.

Izaguirre won six Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups during his time in Glasgow and he was named PFA Scotland and SFWA Player of the Year in 2011, before acting as understudy to Scotland international Kieran Tierney during the latter stages of his Celtic career.

Izaguirre took to Instagram late on Monday night and posted an emotional message, next to a picture of himself in a Celtic shirt.

"Today is a very sad day in my life," said Izaguirre. "I never thought that one day I had to say goodbye to a club that I love so much and that gave me everything in football.

"All my dreams came true in my professional career as a football player.

"I want to say thanks to all the people working at Celtic Park, all the staff working at Lennoxtown training ground, the security staff, the kitchen staff, the kitmen and everybody else.
