Brendan Rodgers expects Celtic's Scottish Cup quarter-final tie against Morton at Parkhead to go ahead.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers expects Saturday's Scottish Cup quarter-final against Morton at Parkhead to go ahead, despite the disruptive weather caused by Storm Emma.

Celtic's home game against Dundee on Wednesday night was called off, and Saturday's Sky Live game appeared to be under threat after bad weather forced a number of games to be postponed in Scotland.

Rodgers revealed his players were given individual training programmes on Thursday before they were allowed to train at Celtic Park on Friday.

After the training session, he said: "Today we've trained well. The pitch is fine, it is playable for the game and there is a lot of work gone on around the stadium to make it safe and secure for the supporters.

"We have played a lot of games so we have had a bit of a breather for a few days and it won't do us any harm. The guys trained very well this morning and we are ready for the game."

The Celtic boss admits he is expecting a stern test against Scottish Championship side Morton, but is backing his team to deal with the pressure and come safely through the tie.

He added: "Morton have a very experienced coach in Jim Duffy. He'll give his experience to the team and be hard to beat.

"We gave the guys a programme to do yesterday so we've only really missed one day's training.

"The games at this stage of the season aren't for fitness. They're for winning.

"We look to the next game. Morton will provide a big test for us. But these are games that really matter. This team has coped with the pressure really well."
