Hibernian midfielder and Rangers target Scott Allan is set to undergo a medical with Celtic, according to Sky sources.
The in-demand 23-year-old edged closer to joining the Scottish champions when their bid was accepted late on Thursday evening.
Celtic have offered £275,000 plus former Easter Road loanee Dylan McGeouch on a permanent deal as well as another midfielder, Liam Henderson, on loan.
Manager Ronny Deila’s move for Allan comes after their Glasgow rivals Rangers had three offers for the former Dundee United player – the last worth £300,000 - turned down by Hibs.
Earlier this summer Allan, who grew up as a Rangers supporter, put in a transfer request in an effort to force through a move to Ibrox, but Hibs have remained resolute throughout the saga, insisting they would not sell to a rival Championship club.
Rangers are their biggest opponents in the title race but with Celtic in the Premiership, they have no issue with letting Allan go there.
The Daily Record claimed on Friday morning that Deila has been given private assurances Allan will not turn him down if he made a move.
Norwegian Deila had previously stayed tight-lipped about the prospect of moving for the highly-rated former Scotland U21 international.
Speaking after Celtic’s 2-2 draw with Kilmarnock on Wednesday, he told Sky Sports: “I can’t tell you anything about transfers, there are so many rumours now.
“I think it’s best to say no comment and then we’ll see what will happen when we come to September 1.”
