Jo Inge Berget looking to make it another painful Champions League night for Celtic

Malmo forward Jo Inge Berget hopes to inflict more Champions League pain on Celtic after suffering it himself in Scotland last season.

Berget was brought to the club by fellow Norwegian Ronny Deila last summer and suffered a double exit from the competition.

After being handed a reprieve following their 6-1 aggregate defeat by Legia Warsaw in the third qualifier due to an administration error by the Polish club, Celtic then lost to Slovenian outfit Maribor in the Champions League play-off.

Berget left the Glasgow club in January after just two goals in eight appearances and has resurrected his career with the Swedish champions, who reached the group stages of the competition for the first time last season, and now he has the chance to return to Celtic Park on Wednesday and try to see Malmo through again.

"I remember last year - Malmo went to the Champions League but I didn't," Berget said. "I went out twice. It was a bad feeling, those four games.

"I reckon that feeling is easy for the Celtic players to find. They don't want to experience that again and I don't want to experience that feeling again.

"I want to go in the Champions League and I know the Celtic players want to do the same."

Asked if he had fond memories of his time at Celtic, he said: "My two goals here in my home debut - and I am hoping to be able to do that again (on Wednesday).

"It is good to be back and I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow. I think it will be a good game.

"Regarding the five or six months here, I enjoyed the first bit of it. It started all right but after a while it lacked in game time. I didn't get to play much after that and so it ended how it ended."
