Mark Warburton has called Uwe Rosler's sacking at Leeds United "incredible".

Leeds owner Massimo Cellino called time on Rosler - who only took over in May - after the 2-1 home defeat by Brighton on Saturday left them seventh from bottom with 11 points from as many matches. Rosler becomes the fifth manager to be sacked by United since Cellino took control in 2014.

The current Rangers manager worked with Rosler during his time at Brentford and he is stunned that he was not given more time to prove his worth at Elland Road.

Warburton said: "I'm a friend of Uwe, I feel for him, he's played about 10 games and he's gone. People need a chance to build foundations, you have to wonder what the game is coming to when that is happening, what other workplace would operate like that? I find it quite incredible.

"You speak to the Championship clubs, and when it comes to promotion 15 doesn't go into 6, it'll never fit. Last year managers were leaving within a ridiculous period of time, you have to be given more time to build a squad.

"You really should have to ask specific questions at interviews, what my budget is, what is the short-term goal, what is the long-term goal.

"But if you've been out of work for eight months you can't, because you're desperate for the job. That's life in football but you need to ask, is it right that it's like this?"

Meanwhile, a Leeds fans group has urged Cellino to appoint a managing director with experience of English football in order to bring about some stability at the club.

Former Rotherham boss Steve Evans has been confirmed as Rosler's replacement but Leeds United Supporters' Trust want further change in the executive box.

The Trust said in a statement: "We call on Massimo Cellino to employ a managing director with proven English football experience to lead the club forward, and for Mr Cellino to adopt the accepted approach of successful football club owners in England, to be seldom seen and never heard.

"The Trust calls on Massimo Cellino to acknowledge the need for real stability, manifest in stable football management and consideration of the needs of the long-suffering support."
