The Rangers players have taken time away from training to get into the Christmas spirit and help Glasgow's homeless.

Dominic Ball hopes Rangers can get their Championship campaign back on track by beating title rivals Hibernian at Ibrox on Monday.

Rangers are now level with Hibs at the top of the table on 41 points after suffering their second defeat of the season when they lost 2-1 at Falkirk at the weekend.

Ball, who is on a season-long loan from Tottenham, told Sky Sports News HQ: "It's a bit disappointing that we are not further ahead after a few poor results recently, but nothing is ever straightforward, you are not going to win every game and go unbeaten for the whole season. So maybe a few recent poor performances are just a little setback.

"It's still only Christmas so three points against Hibs is what we are going to go out and get and it will be massive for us just to push on from there."

Ball, 20, was speaking at Glasgow City Mission, a homeless charity which Rangers Charity Foundation are supporting this season. The mission focuses on funding the shelter which provides emergency accommodation in the coldest months for those who have no alternative but to sleep on the streets.

The shelter is usually open for three months from December through to February but thanks to the £25,000 pledge from the Foundation, the shelter will be able to open for an extra month in March. The pledge will also contribute to the overall running costs of the service which are usually met by a range of partners.

"I think it's brilliant that the Rangers Charity are doing this," said Ball. "The mission was to open the night shelter for another month in March and with a few events - 'The Big Ibrox Sleep Out' where everyone stayed over - they've raised the money now to be able to do that.

"It puts it into perspective, you have to be grateful and appreciate everything you have. And for me it is just giving it back and helping out with everyone."

And team-mate Andy Halliday, who joined Ball on the visit, praised the work being carried out by the Mission which provides a warm, safe place for homeless people while also attempting to find suitable temporary accommodation as an alternative to rough sleeping.

"Homelessness is something we can all see in our city. We're all aware of the problem and now we can help to address it by continuing to back the Foundation and support this project with Glasgow City Mission. I am sure the fans will once again get behind their charity for this great cause," said the midfielder.

"My mum works at Glasgow City Mission's Child and Family Centre in Govan so I am well aware of the amazing work the charity does, not just with the homeless but across all different sections of the community. It's a fantastic cause and I'm delighted the Foundation has chosen to support Glasgow City Mission this season."

Grant Campbell, Glasgow City Mission's chief executive said: "The support from the Rangers Charity Foundation means we can extend the Glasgow Winter Night Shelter's operation by an extra month this year, allowing even more vulnerable people to benefit from safe, warm accommodation and help.

"We are delighted that the Foundation has chosen to support such a real issue in our city and would like to thank fans and the Club in advance for their help in tackling homelessness in the coming season."

And Connal Cochrane, manager of the Rangers Charity Foundation added: "The Rangers Charity Foundation aims to be a force for good on behalf of the Rangers Family and our partnership announcement today once again emphasises our great charitable values."
