Joey Barton insists he has unfinished business with Rangers and claims he cannot wait to rejoin Mark Warburton's squad.

The midfielder is currently serving a three-week club suspension following a blazing row with the manager - as well as team-mate Andy Halliday - in the wake of Rangers' humiliating 5-1 defeat to Old Firm rivals Celtic.

It appeared this would spell the end of his time in Glasgow, after just eight games for the Light Blues, but he has informed his 3.25m Twitter followers that he is determined to return to Ibrox and make his mark on the pitch.

The 34-year-old Englishman said in a series of posts: "People far too quick to write (the team) off. Celtic game was first competitive loss since 28th December. Thirty-plus games.

Sky's Mark Benstead reports on the future of Joey Barton at Rangers after the midfielder was suspended for three weeks.

"I'm not going anywhere, happy to be judged after the season. Can't wait to get back and show what I'm about. Came to be successful. Nothing's changed.

"Never ran from a challenge in my life. Not about to start now."
