Former Rangers striker Jonatan Johansson is returning to the club as assistant coach.

The 41-year-old Finn, who played 106 times for his country, scored 14 goals in 48 league appearances during a three-year spell at Ibrox, having signed in 1997.

He won two league titles in Glasgow before spending six years in England with Charlton. He later returned north of the border to have a brief spells at Hibernian and St Johnstone.

Johansson is currently working as Finland assistant manager and has been brought in by recently-appointed Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha, who was keen to appoint someone with knowledge of the club.

Former Rangers players Barry Ferguson, Alex Rae and John Brown were among those interviewed for the position, but Caixinha has opted to go with Johansson.
