Lee Wallace to miss Rangers games against Partick Thistle and Celtic

Rangers' Lee Wallace says his season is 'probably' over

Rangers captain Lee Wallace will miss Tuesday’s League Cup fixture against Partick Thistle and Saturday’s Old Firm derby against Celtic due to a groin injury.

Wallace was injured 10 minutes into Friday night's 2-2 draw against Partick and had to be replaced at left-back by Declan John.

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has confirmed Wallace will travel to England today to find out the extent of his injury and the length of time he could miss.

Speaking to RangersTV, Caixinha said: "Lee Wallace is out, he is travelling to Manchester today to have an assessment on his groin so let's see how it goes.

"Depending on the outcome of that we will see what we need to do. He will miss the weekend, Lee is out we just need to know for how long he needs to be out."

John, who is on loan from Cardiff City, complained of ankle soreness following last weekend's game but Caixinha has confirmed he is fit to travel with the squad.

"Declan John will definitely be with us tomorrow as will Ryan Jack who will start," Caixinha confirmed.

Niko Kranjcar and Jordan Rossiter both missed the game at Firhill and Caixinha confirmed they are both still recovering from knee injuries.

"Niko started back training with us on Sunday. He is still going to be assessed by his surgeon so we are going to see how we are going to deal with his situation. It is the same knee as he injured last season," Caixinha said.

"Jordan Rossiter still has some pain on the knee so he still can't train with the team and is not in our options."
