Bruno Alves says it will be vital Rangers hold their nerve in the League Cup semi-final against Motherwell on Sunday.
The 35-year-old Alves, who moved to Govan in the summer, has won trophies in Portugal, Russia and Turkey during his 15-year professional career.
Pedro Caixinha's team have won their last two games in good style and the veteran defender hopes to bring all his experience to bear as they look to book their ticket to the final on November 26.
Alves, who will continue as captain at Hampden in the absence of the injured Lee Wallace, said: "I think the most important thing is to keep doing what we have been doing, to put our plan for the game in action and forget a little but about the emotions and play football.
"This kind of game sometimes they are emotional because we play in front of a full house and this brings up the emotions. So I expect quality football but I expect our players to be aggressive in the right way, to win the balls and fight for the victory.
"It's special because I know what this means, how big this club is. And to trust me is important. It's a big step in my career."
