Numan considers retirement

ARTHUR NUMAN has revealed he is considering quitting the game at the end of the season.

The Rangers defender was asked to take a pay-cut in order to remain at Ibrox, and is contemplating hanging up his boots at the age of 33.

"It was a huge cut and I'm very disappointed," he complained.

"You know the situation at the club.

"I was hoping to stay another year but it couldn't be done and it's more important to focus on the games.

"My feelings were as long as it's a reasonable offer, maybe I can accept, that's what I said to the club as well, but I don't know how the other players feel about their situations."

Although there is likely to be interest in his services from elsewhere, the Dutchman seems a little disillusioned with the game.

"I'll make my mind up in the next couple of weeks," he added.

"I am 33. I'll see if I can play another one or two years, or maybe retire and do something else but, at the moment, I really have no idea what I'm going to do."

Meanwhile, Michael Ball made his first appearance for 16 months when representing the Under-21 side in their clash with Partick Thistle.

The former Everton defender is still unlikely to figure in the first team this season.
