Mark Warburton has hit back at Alan Stubbs' claim his job at Rangers is 'very easy' by telling the Hibernian manager to shut up and mind his own business.

Easter Road boss Stubbs was featured on his club's TV channel on Wednesday playing down the progress Warburton has made so far at Ibrox.

The former Brentford manager has overseen five wins so far, the latest of which was a 2-0 success at Ayr United in the Petrofac Cup.

Rangers have lost 17 players since the end of last season between the expiry of permanent deals, the end of five loan agreements with Newcastle and the transfer of Calum Gallagher to St Mirren.

They have so far brought 10 new faces into their senior pool and despite the major overhaul have had a 100 per cent record so far, scoring 19 goals in the process.

Stubbs, however, thinks the success is down to the size of the budget Warburton has had to work with since he arrived in Glasgow.

He said: "It's very easy when you've got money to spend to bring in much better players than what was there at the start.

"Rangers have started the season strongly, they've started well. When you buy good players, which they've obviously brought in, sometimes it does not necessarily take a long a time (to gel).

"Compared to where they are last season to now, it is a transformation of the squad but they've spent a lot of money as well."

Warburton was withering in his response to Stubbs' words in the aftermath of a straightforward victory at Somerset Park.

He said: "Clearly it must be easy managing Real Madrid and Man United then, I guess.

"I would suggest that any manager without the facts keeps his mouth shut and concentrates on his club and not worry about our club. That's the key point.

"Right now we are very respectful to every other club and manager, and unless you know any facts that I don't know, concentrate on your own team.

"I know what we have spent and that's a complete fallacy. I'm not the brightest man in the world but it will take a lot more than that to wind me up."

Nicky Clark and Barrie McKay both scored their first goals of the season in a routine victory for Rangers, who should really have had a bigger winning margin.

Warburton added: "We came to a difficult venue and got a result and there were lots of positives but some negatives too: we were sloppy second half.

"We weren't good enough in possession and didn't commit to the ball and get as tight as we have been doing but the beauty of this team is that they are keen to learn and we will learn."
