Former Rangers owner Craig Whyte and ex-chief executive Charles Green are among seven men served indictments by Scotland's Prosecution Service.

The pair appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on September 2 in connection with the 'alleged fraudulent acquisition' of the Scottish Championship club three years ago.

Indictments were also served on Gary Withey, the former Rangers company secretary, Paul Clark, David Whitehouse and David Grier, who worked for Duff and Phelps, the firm appointed as Rangers' administrators in February 2012, and Imran Ahmad, a former director of the Glasgow club.

The indictment includes charges of fraud, conspiracy to defraud and also attempting to pervert the course of justice.

A statement from the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said: "The Crown can confirm that an indictment has today been served on Craig Thomas Whyte, Gary Martyn Withey, David Henry Grier, David John Whitehouse, Paul John Clark, Charles Alexander Green and Sheik Imran Ahmad also known as Imran Ahmad.

"The indictment libels charges of fraud, conspiracy to defraud, attempt to pervert the course of justice and statutory offences under the Companies Act 2006 and the Criminal Justice and Licencing (Scotland) Act 2010.
