Aberdeen say rumours suggesting Derek McInnes is leaving are 'without substance'

Scottish Premiership leaders Aberdeen have denied manager Derek McInnes is on the brink of leaving his post.
The Dons made a fantastic start to the season and remain top of the table although they have lost their last three matches, defeats to Inverness and St Johnstone (a 5-1 hammering at home) having followed a League Cup loss at Hibernian..
Social media has been awash with speculation that McInnes is heading for the exit door and a leading bookmaker suspended betting on their next Scottish Premiership manager to leave.
However, Aberdeen released a statement on Wednesday in which they poured cold water on the notion that a managerial change is in the offing.
The statement read: "The club can confirm Derek McInnes remains the manager of Aberdeen Football Club.
"The various rumours which have been circulating this afternoon on social media are completely without substance or foundation and we would question the motivation of those individuals looking to unsettle the club.
"Derek is fully focussed on preparing the squad for our important match against Ross County on Friday evening. The club will not be commenting further on this matter."
Despite the two defeats, Aberdeen remain one point clear of Celtic at the top of the table, ahead of a tricky trip to fifth-placed Ross County this Friday.
