Hearts will host Partick Thistle at Tynecastle on Sunday after the redeveloped stadium was given the green light by Edinburgh Council.

The stadium did not pass an initial inspection on Friday but after officials took a second look on Saturday night, the club were given the pre-requisite certificate to ensure the Premiership fixture can go ahead and a final safety check on Sunday morning was also affirmative.

"The club is delighted to announce that we have our temporary occupation certificate for the new stand," Hearts said in a statement on Saturday night.

"The game will kick off at 3pm Sunday afternoon. We thank you all for your patience."

Gary Locke believes a revamped Tynecastle can be the catalyst for a Hearts resurgence in Scottish football.

Work on the demolition of the 102-year-old Archibald Leitch-designed main stand started 12 months ago and the new structure was originally intended to be ready for use from the start of September.

However, delays meant the club were forced to use nearby Murrayfield rugby stadium for four 'home' fixtures as work continued at their Gorgie ground.

The club have stressed that the reconstruction is not yet complete as it is 'a phased development', with different parts of the stadium 'coming on stream over the course of the coming months'.
