Hearts defender Callum Paterson has had his red card against Hamilton rescinded on appeal and reduced to a caution for recklessly dangerous play.

The Scotland squad member had put his team 2-1 up at New Douglas Park with 19 minutes remaining in their Scottish Premiership clash.

But he was dismissed just six minutes later for a foul on Darian MacKinnon and the home side went on to turn the game around and win 3-2.

The defender – a former Tynecastle player – was unhappy with how easily has Spanish opponent went down during a 4-3 home win at Tynecastle.

McKay said at the time: "He's a typical foreigner, he gets touched and goes down. He was holding the back of his head and rolling about the place."

Despite the threat of a possible suspension for his words, the 22-year-old has avoided any further punishment.
