Hibernian manager Neil Lennon says he has no regrets about the touchline fracas in the game against Morton

Hibernian head coach Neil Lennon insists he has no regrets about his touchline bust-up with Morton manager Jim Duffy on Wednesday night.

Duffy confronted Lennon in his technical area as the Hibs boss shouted at Kudus Oyenuga, who was sent off for a poor tackle on Jordon Forster.

Lennon was held back as he tried to reach Duffy as a swarm of players and backroom staff got in their way but he does not believe he would react any differently in the cold light of day.

When asked if he had any regrets, Lennon told Sky Sports News HQ: "No, none whatsoever.

"If you see the footage, their staff and their subs are actually steaming past Jordon [Foster] while he is lying prostrate on the ground. It was ridiculous.

"I don't know how long he is going to be out for and, unless we win the appeal, I will have lost my captain, who has been the best player this season for whatever length of time that is as well."

There were ugly scenes at the end of Hibernian's 0-0 draw against Morton, with two players sent off and a row involving both bosses

In the immediate aftermath of the tackle, Oyenuga went down clutching his head after Hibs centre-half Darren McGregor squared up to him.

Hibs are appealing against McGregor's subsequent red card.

Lennon is fuming about what he views as Oyenuga deliberately feigning an injury.

Lennon said: "That's as bad as the tackle. That is disgusting behaviour trying to get a fellow pro sent off.

"In all of this, that has got missed. No one has asked their player his take on it because I am sure he is pretty embarrassed about it."

Lennon, who made his name as a combative midfielder for Leicester and Celtic, also took issue with anyone comparing Oyenuga's conduct to his own when he was a playing.

"Some people say that tackle was symptomatic of the play I played - that's an urban myth," Lennon said.

"I have never gone out to hurt anyone. I never put a bad challenge in I don't think. I never elbowed anyone or head-butted anyone.

"I got sent off a couple of times for a couple of silly bookings - going head to head with Anthony Stokes in a Falkirk game when no damage was done and for berating a referee after an Old Firm game.

"That was my disciplinary record in terms of red cards so I'm not having that I went about deliberately trying to maim players the way that boy did the other night."
