Hibernian's Oli Shaw saw his early effort incorrectly disallowed as Hearts and Hibernian contested a 0-0 draw at Tynecastle

Hibernian striker Oliver Shaw believed he had scored in Wednesday's goalless Edinburgh derby - but his goal was not awarded by the officials.

In the ninth minute of the game, Shaw chipped the ball towards goal from the edge of the six-yard box with it striking the underside of the crossbar before appearing to land over the goal line as Hearts goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin collected the rebound.

There were cheers from the away end and Shaw wheeled away to celebrate, but the goal was not awarded by the linesman or the officials as the pace of the incident meant that they could not be 100 per cent sure that the whole of the ball crossed the line.

While subsequent replays showed that it did, there is no goal-line technology in the Scottish Premiership so the decision was not overturned.

After the game, Hibernian manager Neil Lennon said: "It's hit the back of the line unquestionably and how the linesman didn't see that is beyond me.

"It was well over the line, everyone in my dugout could see it, I think half the stadium knew it as well. I agree that the referee cannot guess but the linesman should see it because that's a clear goal. We could all see that from the way the ball came out at an angle."
