Motherwell have sacked manager Mark McGhee following a run of four successive defeats.
Motherwell were beaten 5-1 at home by Dundee on Saturday, having been 5-0 down at half-time.
A club statement said: "The club wishes to thank Mark for his work during his second spell at Fir Park, particularly getting the club into the top six during the 2015/16 season and wish him every success in the future."
Stephen Robinson, who will be supported by assistant James McFadden and U20s boss Stephen Craigan, has agreed to take temporary charge while a new permanent manager is recruited as swiftly as possible.
Robinson told Sky Sports News HQ: "Obviously it's a big disappointment. Mark brought a lot of these players to the club, and a lot of the staff, so the mood is very sombre.
"We just have to pick ourselves up and get on with it. There is a game on Saturday [away at Kilmarnock] and we have to deal with it.
"The players are paid to play football and ultimately they will get another chance where managers don't. Their attitudes have been great but they have to start producing as well."
