St Mirren have confirmed that Dundee have made an approach asking to speak to their manager Jack Ross about the vacant managerial position at Dens Park.

Dundee are seeking a new manager after interim boss Neil McCann confirmed on Monday that he would not be taking up the position full time.

McCann will instead be returning to work for Sky Sports as a Scottish Football pundit.

Ross joined St Mirren in October and kept them in the Scottish Championship on the last day of the season. However, St Mirren have denied Dundee permission to speak to the 40-year-old.

In a statement on St Mirren website, club chairman Gordon Scott said: "We can confirm that Dundee FC submitted a request to discuss their managerial vacancy with Jack Ross.

"We have replied informing them that Jack is under contract and that we won't be giving them permission to speak to him. That is the end of it as far as we are concerned."
