Paris Saint-Germain suffered their first league defeat since March as Monaco struck an early blow in the Ligue 1 title race with a 3-1 victory over the reigning champions.

Monaco were the last French team to record a victory over PSG, although that came straight after they had won a fourth straight title, and they fired a warning that this year's competition could be closer.

Joao Moutinho and Fabinho scored in the first half and, although Edinson Cavani pulled one back, Serge Aurier's own goal ensured Unai Emery lost for the first time at the PSG helm.

Bordeaux, who held PSG to two draws last term, got their second win of the season by defeating Nantes 1-0.

Diego Rolan's first-half strike proved to be the difference as Les Girondins bounced back from their 4-1 loss at Toulouse last weekend.
