Ligue 1 round-up: Mariano Diaz nets in Lyon victory

Lyon's Spanish forward Mariano Diaz (R) celebrates

Mariano Diaz scored his fourth goal of the season to help Lyon beat Guingamp 2-1 on Sunday.

Guingamp forward Marcus Thuram - son of former France international Lilian - cancelled out Diaz's opener before Nabil Fekir grabbed the winner for the hosts.

Goalkeeper Anthony Lopes saved Lyon on a number of occasions with series of fine stops, preserving a third win of the campaign.

Marseille crashed to a second straight defeat as Rennes won 3-1 at the Stade Velodrome.

On-loan Sunderland midfielder Wahbi Khazri deftly back-heeled an Ismaila Sarr cross just inside Steve Mandanda's far post after only two minutes and Benjamin Bourigeaud then rifled in a second from 30 yards.

A miserable evening for Marseille was compounded when Joris Gnagnon slotted in a third for Rennes on 70 minutes.

Morgan Sanson grabbed a consolation late on while Firmin Mubele wasted a chance for a fourth in stoppage time when he blazed a penalty well over the bar.

St Etienne and Angers each had a man sent off as they battled out a 1-1 draw at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

A hectic opening to the contest saw the hosts take the lead in the first minute through Remy Cabella and Thomas Mangani equalise with a penalty eight minutes later after Ronael Pierre-Gabriel had handled in the box.

St Etienne were reduced to 10 men four minutes into the second half when Vincent Pajot was sent off following a challenge on Alexandre Letellier, and the numbers were subsequently evened up with seven minutes remaining as Enzo Crivelli was shown a red card having fouled Bryan Dabo.
