Montpellier climbed off the bottom of Ligue 1 but Rolland Courbis' side are still looking for their first goal of the season following a 0-0 draw at Troyes.

Kevin Berigaud felt he had ended Montpellier's goal drought after 29 minutes on Saturday but his 20-yard effort was spectacularly denied by Troyes' Slovenian goalkeeper Denis Petric.

Troyes' best opening came three minutes into the second half when Lossemy Karaboue volley's forced an excellent save from Jonathan Ligali.

Jonas Martin might have snatched all three points for Montpellier at the death but the draw took them above Ajaccio at the foot of the table.

A superb second-half performance from Reims wrapped up a convincing 4-1 home win over Lorient which lifted them to the top.

Olivier Guegan's side responded to last weekend's defeat against Nantes by taking the lead after 24 minutes through Gaetan Charbonnier.

Didier Bouanga equalised for Lorient four minutes into the second half but Reims then disclosed a ruthless streak which saw Nicolas De Preville score his side's second six minutes later, before further goals from Grejohn Kyei (67) and Atila Turan (86) added shine.

Reims moved above Paris Saint-Germain on goals scored, with the defending champions in action on Sunday against Monaco, while Rennes joined the pair on nine points following a 3-1 success at home to Toulouse.

The visitors led after just five minutes through Martin Braithwaite but a Steeve Yago own goal 12 minutes later restored parity.

Captain Sylvain Armand then fired Rennes ahead after 67 minutes, tucking away the rebound after his penalty was saved, with Giovanni Sio rounding things off with a stoppage-time strike.

Promoted Angers remain unbeaten this season thanks to a 1-1 draw with Nice. Thomas Mangani gave the home side a 26th-minute lead but Valere Germain secured a point for Nice 12 minutes into the second half.

A Nabil Fekir hat-trick helped Lyon on their way to a comfortable 4-0 win over Caen, who finished the match a man down to add to their misery.

Fekir popped up to score after 19, 45 and 58 minutes before Damien Da Silva saw red for the home side. Claudio Beauvue added another goal two minutes from time in a one-sided affair.

Sofiane Boufal's 25th-minute strike earned Lille a 1-0 victory at home to winless Ajaccio.
