Rennes have made their second midfield signing in as many days with the capture of Sanjin Prcic from Sochaux.

The French-born Bosnia Under-21 international has signed a four-year contract with the Rouge et Noir, leaving his local club following their relegation from Ligue 1 last season.

Prcic told the club's official website: "I am very happy to sign for the club. Everyone has welcomed me very well.

"It's the start of a new stage for me. I had never left my family and friends and it is a bit strange, but I am happy. I needed to take this step.

"Everything is in place here for me to progress and develop. Stade Rennais have always been a very good club and are capable of playing in Europe."

The arrival of the 20-year-old follows that of Christian Bruls on Wednesday and adds to competition for places in midfield.

But Prcic, who will wear the number 24 shirt with his new club, said: "It's a good thing.

"The competition helps people perform above themselves. When you have lots of players for the same position, you want to show to the coach that you deserve a place in the team.

"I am a box-to-box player but at heart, I am more attacking and quite comfortable with the ball at my feet."

Meanwhile, Bruls, the Belgian signed from Gent following a successful loan spell last season with Nice, requires surgery on a fractured metatarsal and will be sidelined for three months.

"It's an inconvenient injury," coach Philippe Montanier told the club's official website.

"The operation is necessary to stabilise the foot.

"But we have to put it in context: it is the short term. He has signed for 36 months and will only be absent for three months."
