Michael Santos scored twice for Malaga in a thrilling 4-3 win over struggling Deportivo La Coruna.
Celso Borges had put the away side ahead at La Rosaleda, but Santos scored twice either side of a Sandro strike to put the home side 3-1 in front.
Florin Andone brought Deportivo back in it before Borges levelled things in the 81st minute, but substitute Javier Ontiveros Parra scored in added time to see Malaga move up to ninth while Deportive are 17th.
Meanwhile, Espanyol secured a comfortable 3-0 victory at home to Leganes in the league's other fixture thanks to a double from Pablo Piatti.
Gerard put the home side in control two minutes after half-time and Espanyol marched to a win which sees them move into the top half of La Liga.
